Donaldson is one of the largest and most successful filtration manufactures in the world. They are provider of filtration systems and replacement parts. Donaldson serves customers in the industrial and diesel engine markets including in-plant air cleaning, compressed air and gas purification, dust and fume removal, power generation, disk drive filtration, off-road equipment and trucks.
Donaldson needs to perform a bubble point test on each liquid filter before and after performing a multi-pass test. This is needed to detect possible damages. Therefore, it is important that Donaldson invests in equipment that is specifically designed to bubble point test liquid filters. Donaldson has made a preliminary test setup to proof a way to conduct these tests. They assigned me to further develop this test stand and build it: Automation of a bubble point tester.
The methodology to automate the bubble point tester is to approach the design step by step. With developing the test bench there is interaction between the several components, so the rule in this thesis: "which information do I need to complete the next step or from the next step to complete the operative step".
